Numadic sponsors PCCE’s intercollegiate tech fest Techyon 2017

Numadic, a Panaji-based supply chain management platform, will act as the title sponsor for the fifth edition of Techyon 2017, an intercollegiate tech fest hosted by Padre Conceicao College of Engineering.

Seven participating colleges and 500 students will enter the two-day gauntlet; engaging in a range of tech and engineering centred challenges that mandate innovative solutions to real world problems. Notable local Goan businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals will support various aspects of Techyon including co-sponsors, Umang Software Technologies – Margao, Glazetek Systems – Margao and  BrushFlicks – Goa.

Originally conceived over two decades ago, Techyon has operated under different names to serve as a nexus to promote the study of science, technology, engineering and math by rewarding and spotlighting exceptional talent across these disciplines.

Techyon 2017 will be inaugurated at 9:30 AM on Friday, 13 October by Chief Guest and Chief Executive Officer of Vedanta Limited, Sesa Iron Ore, Mr. Kishore Kumar. The opening ceremony will take place in the presence of distinguished guests, Ms. Jaspreet Walia, the HR Manager at Infosys, Bangalore and Ms. Elvina Halli, Communications Lead at Numadic. Final judging ceremonies will take place throughout the day on Saturday, 14 October.

Subject-specific technical events are organised by four separate departments within PCCE. The electronic and telecommunications department will host AAVISHKAR; the mechanical department, TURBULENCE; computer department will drive DOTSLASH and the IT department will manage MINDSPARK. Each event will subsume a list of inter-disciplinary challenges including Robowars, Hackathon, Code Crunch, Electronic Art and live debates.

Numadic, in addition to its role as the title sponsor, will organise the Hackathon that petitions students to build web or mobile software that can optimise business-to-business transportation systems. A curated judging panel will select first and second place winners of the Hackathon. The judges are:

Sidharth Kuncalienker

A former member of Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr. Kuncalienker has been elected in a by poll from Panaji constituency in place of Manohar Parrikar. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He attended Goa Engineering College.

Caslino Pereira

Mr. Pereira is the founder and CTO of SINGULERP – a Goa-based company that builds centralised and intuitive enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to streamline manufacturing processes.

Tyrone D’souza

Mr. D’souza is the Managing Director and Partner at Mobobeat – a mobile performance network that works with App Developers to help them promote their apps globally

Milind Alvares

Mr. Alvares is the (Co-founder) Senior designer at Hash Cookies – a web design firm that integrates technical and design expertise to create artful, distinctive and meaningful websites.

Venugopal TR

Mr. Venugopal is currently an Incubation Manager at CIBA, Goa. He founded and managed Pragyam Business Solutions, a Bangalore based software firm which provides analytics and solutions in the form of BI to the retail industry.

Winners of the Hackathon will be presented with upto INR 25000 in cash prizes. First place winners will receive a six-month internship at Numadic and 3 months of pre-incubatory support at the Center for Incubation and Business Acceleration, Goa.
