Who are we looking for?
Our Android app is probably ‘THE MOST’ important piece of HandyTrain – important in terms of usage (it’s used by 20000s of users), impact and business criticality. We are seeking for an Android Specialist who can shoulder this responsibility – individually or as a part of a small but dynamic team.
Qualities:
1. A knack for programming and problem solving
2. Largely programming language agnostic (deep love for one language is completely acceptable)
3. Deep love for technology and a nature to experiment often. If you believe that you love programming more than you love food, well, we’ll love you and you’ll love us
Skills:
Apart from a very strong passion for programming and problem solving, you should also have
1. 1+ years of Android application development experience, preferably with a product company
2. At-least one app active in the Google Play store. The more the number of users the better. If you had a heavily (1000s of users) used app which is not currently active in Play Store, we are still fine with it. You need to have published at-least one app to Google play which had certain users.
3. Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
4. Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services. Familiarity with web sockets would be an added advantage
5. Experience with offline storage (SQLite), threading, and performance tuning
6. Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
7. Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
8. Familiarity with serverside scripting would again be a strong bonus
