Overview
1. Program Planning
ü Establish and organize the school/home counseling program by assessing needs and setting goals.
ü Formulate a plan of action and program evaluation.
ü Manage time effectively and provide services on schedule.
ü Develop activities and resources to implement and evaluate the program.
ü Initiate and coordinate school-wide guidance and counseling activities.
ü Seek input from teachers and staff in making decisions about the school counseling program.
ü Assists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategies.
ü Execute Individual Care plan
2. Mentoring and counseling:
ü Individual and group counselling services should be provided to all the children of El Shaddai Charitable trust.
ü Provide individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive, and remedial needs of students.
ü Establish a counselling laboratory, Psychological testing, clinical/ behavioural counselling.
ü Demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories and use appropriate assessment and diagnostic procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services.
ü Make social investigation/case history of the child through personal interview and from the family, social agencies and other sources – Home study report
ü Focus on enabling the child to adjust to the home, school and the new environment and identification of behavioral and psychological disorder.
ü Develop Individual care plan/career counselling for every child in homes and shelters with regard to the child’s present and future need and requirement mental health organisation in case if the child needs medication/hospitalization/necessary services.
3. Consulting
ü Consult with students, parents, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students.
ü Assists parents, In Charges and teachers in understanding and responding to developmental levels of students
ü Present instructional/informational programs to group of students, parents, and teachers (e.g., parent education programs, group guidance, teacher in-service).
ü Interpret achievement and aptitude test data to assist school staff with curriculum planning.
Increasing children’s confidence and gaining their trust to share their problems, helping them cope with painful emotions and dealing with their difficulties in institutional life.
Support the children who have failed in the examination, facing anxiety and bereavement.
ü Encourage and motivate the children through behaviour modification exercise.
4 Coordinating and communicating.
ü Establish effective communication skills, cooperation and understanding between the child, house staff, teacher and house coordinator.
ü Coordinate all counseling services for students and assists with the same.
ü Advocate all students and assist teachers with the integration of Guidance Curriculum.
ü Share appropriate information about students with school personnel, parents, and agencies
ü Make appropriate referrals of students to school and community programs
ü Identify and communicate with special children (disabled, dyslexics, ADHD, etc.)
ü Develop group exercise and activity based on the age of children (pre – adolescent and adolescent) on prevailing issues.
8.5 : Student Admission and Appraisal
ü Carry out the admission process with sponsorship representative.
ü Administer the student’s life cycle from admission, to the exit of the child.
ü Interpret test results and other student data accurately.
ü Conduct non-standardized educational assessment according to professional practices (e.g., classroom observation)
ü Use appropriate standardized tests and inventories according to published practices and professional standards.
8.6 : Professional Practices and Development
ü Adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession
ü Follow the laws, policies, and procedures which govern ESCT programs
ü Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
8.7: Reporting and documentation.
ü Maintain an organized, functional, and up-to-date office/counseling center
ü Maintain an updated list of the children along with the legal documents.
ü Prepare psychological/clinical report on traumatized children and counseling them.
ü Develop and maintain the child profile with confidentiality.
ü Supervise child’s quarterly and annual reports with the Sponsorship representative.
8.8 : Miscellaneous:
ü Create awareness about the rights of children according to child rights act 2003.
ü Briefing to the parents on how to communicate with children (PTA), efforts should be made to reintegrate the child with his/her family.
ü Conduct training/ workshop for the teachers and staff on issues concerning child development and communication skills.
ü Assists the teachers with necessary inputs, skills to manage the child.
ü Organising support for yourself and other staff.

Essential Skills: 3 years’ experience, MA in Clinical Psychology/ Psychology or equivalent Experience
Essential Attributes: Patient, Active Listener, Compassionate, Non Judgemental, Research Oriented, Empathetic, Discrete, Encouraging, Self-Aware, Authentic, Honest & Sensitive, Good Communication Skills with good Attitude.

About El Shaddai Charitable Trust
The El Shaddai Charitable Trust is a registered, non-profit Charity working in Goa and other States of India, implementing the Child Rights and Juvenile Justice for orphans, street children and children coming from economically underprivileged conditions. Children are cared and provided with food, clothing, shelter and education, for a better future. We have residential Homes, Day Care Centres, Community Centres, and Cottages for the seniors who are attending University, Colleges, Technical Institutions and Professional Training Centres & working with us as Trainees and Staff. We have Manna Khana free food distribution programme on week days. Manna takeaway packets are provided for around 300 poor children and adults living on the streets.
We have a number of schools in the slum areas providing educational facilities to the children. In addition to this, our outreach projects continue to benefit and change lives in the South-West States of India. El Shaddai has impacted over 4000 children and continues to touch more lives through its various initiatives. We want to reach out to many more children with the love of God. In the year 2013, ESCT has been accredited by Credibility Alliance which is one of the Leading Accreditation Agencies in India.
