A while back, we did a post on GWave, after we tested it out when we initially began operations in Goa. As a background, GWave is a public-private partnership between United Telecoms Limited, which implemented this broadband network in Goa and the Department of Information Technology, Government of Goa.

GWave’s Broadband Internet Pricing

This pricing and internet speed chart is based on claimed data by GWave, accurate to the date of posting this article. Business customers can choose between business or corporate plans.

Generally speaking,  GWave offers  users a well-priced, fast and reliable, fiber optic internet service. The internet connectivity itself is pretty good and GWave is the only private SP to have legal access to government electricity poles, making it easier for them to get cables to homes. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the small state of Goa proved too large for them to handle  and the actual service network is run through a franchisee or partner model where GWave teams up with local entrepreneurs to act as the last mile service provider.

Thus, the actual service you receive from GWave is a lottery. For instance, in Panjim, where we are based, the service is below average, with slow response times and regular issues. On the other hand, in places like Saligao, Parra etc, where a lot of our team lives, the service quality is significantly higher, thanks mostly to the franchisee in the area, Mervyn. Thus, service in the Saligao-Porvorim-Anjuna area is very high and includes a 24 hour call line. The staff in the area also follow clear checklists.
