GTA in association with PCCE organised the first of its kind career fair on 20th January
Toward the end of the previous week, the Padre Conceicao College of Engineering along with the Goa Technology Association organised a career fair. It was the first of its kind event held in the state with most major engineering colleges present. There were about 30 companies, ranging from startups to well established companies that made their way to the event.
Students were excited to see companies arrive at their campus and conduct live interviews. They received three minute presentations from each of the companies gathered there to understand the work done by these companies. The companies also mentioned their job requirements so students would get an idea of where their talents would be a good fit. On completion of the presentations, the companies began conducting interviews. Students could then interact with the company representatives, to get more information about specific companies.
The event was graced by the presence by their chief guest, the Vice Chancellor of Goa University, Prof Varun Sahni. He motivated the students to use their talents as engineers to do things that would benefit society. The President of the GTA also made an appearance at the event. Mr. Mangirish Salelkar spoke to the students about hard work. He spoke to them about making an impact and to be ‘industry ready’. Students looked up to him and paid attention knowing that they would take this information with them moving forward.
Overall, the event was a giant success with a very large turnout. Many of the students who attended the event stated that it was an amazing opportunity to connect with different companies. Companies got a chance to interact with interesting talent as well. Many CVs were exchanged and students are waiting in anticipation.
