Overview

Position Title: Production Process Team Leader (Hands-on Process Improvement)
Department: Manufacturing / Operations
Reports To: Production Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose
The Production Process Team Leader is the hands-on owner of how products are made. The primary goal is to simplify and speed up production processes (especially labor-intensive ones such as canvas, magnets, and personalized photo products) so they become easier to run, train, and sustain — closer to a robust, low-skill-dependent system. This role combines deep technical/process work on the floor with line leadership. Success is measured by measurable reductions in cycle time, reduced complexity, higher output consistency, and processes that are less dependent on individual operator skill.

Key Responsibilities

· Process Redesign & Cycle-Time Reduction (Primary)

Spend substantial time on the floor making products yourself (canvas, magnets, photobooks, etc.). Time current methods and identify waste.

Investigate and implement better ways: changes in process sequence, jigs/fixtures, tools, equipment (e.g., better cutting for magnets), materials, adhesives, lamination, packaging, or simple automation/aids.

Drive concrete improvements — for example, significantly reduce canvas making time from the current ~15 minutes and streamline magnet production.

Document simplified, robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions that are easy to train and less error-prone.

· Hands-on Production & Prototyping

o Directly operate equipment and stations, especially during trials, high volume, or absenteeism.

o Build prototypes, test new materials/structures/finishing methods, and give practical floor-level feedback on manufacturability.

o Collaborate with product development or management on material and method trials.

· Line Leadership & Daily Operations

Oversee daily workflow to meet production and dispatch targets. Assign work, resolve immediate bottlenecks, and step in operationally when needed.

Train operators on the improved methods (not just the old ones). Monitor efficiency and provide feedback focused on following the simplified process.

Enforce quality and safety standards; ensure finished products meet premium requirements for print, finishing, alignment, and packaging.

· Continuous Improvement & Technical Support

Identify bottlenecks, material waste, excess motion, and downtime. Propose and implement lean improvements (method study, 5S, basic kaizen, standard work).

Track inventory usage of key materials/consumables and flag shortages early.

Work with maintenance or external vendors on equipment suitability and simple upgrades.

· Team Development

Onboard and train new operators on the current best methods.

Foster a culture where the process (not individual heroics) delivers consistent quality and speed.

Qualifications & Requirements

· Educational background: ITI / Diploma / Degree in Printing Technology, Mechanical/Industrial/Production Engineering, Graphic Arts, or related technical field.

· Technical knowledge: Hands-on understanding of printing, finishing, lamination, cutting, packaging, adhesives, and materials used in photo products, canvas, magnets, or similar personalized/print products.

· Work experience: 3–6 years hands-on in printing, packaging, binding, finishing, or light manufacturing. Clear evidence of process improvement, cycle-time reduction, method changes, or new-product introduction on the floor is more important than pure supervisory experience. At least some experience leading or training others is useful.

Key Skills & Competencies

Skill Category                                       Core Competency
Technical & Hands-on – Making products, process/method redesign, equipment & material trials, finishing knowledge
Process Improvement – Time study, waste reduction, cycle-time reduction, creating simple robust SOPs
Leadership – Training by example, operator guidance, delivering under tight timelines
Quality & Practicality – Attention to detail, premium finishing standards, practical problem-solving
Salary: Rs. 35K pm (open to discussion for the right process-oriented candidate with proven improvement results)
