Overview
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Audit Manager who can independently manage and supervise a team handling multiple audit assignments.
The role involves Bank/Concurrent Audits, Statutory Audits, Special Audits and various Internal Audits. The ideal candidate should be hands-on, commercially aware and capable of taking complete ownership of an assignment — from planning and fieldwork to review, reporting and closure.
This is a team-management and assignment-ownership role, not merely an individual audit execution position.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Management
Plan and manage Concurrent Audits of Banks and other bank-related audit assignments.
Manage and supervise Internal Audits across different types of organisations and business processes.
Lead Statutory Audits, Special Audits and other assurance assignments.
Understand the scope, objectives and risk areas of each assignment and plan the audit accordingly.
Allocate work to audit executives and monitor progress at client locations.
Review audit working papers, supporting documentation and audit evidence.
Ensure audit observations are properly supported, documented and communicated.
Identify financial irregularities, process gaps, control weaknesses and compliance issues.
Prepare/review audit reports and ensure timely submission to clients.
Team Management
Lead and manage a team of audit executives working on different assignments.
Allocate assignments based on the team’s experience and workload.
Guide team members during fieldwork and resolve practical audit issues.
Review the work performed by team members and provide corrective guidance.
Monitor daily/weekly audit progress and ensure that assignments remain on schedule.
Train and develop junior audit staff in practical audit procedures and documentation.
Ensure discipline, quality and professional standards across the audit team.
Client & Bank Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for assigned audit engagements.
Interact confidently with bank officials, management, finance teams and client representatives.
Discuss audit observations and obtain appropriate explanations and supporting documents.
Handle client and bank queries arising during the audit.
Follow up on outstanding information, observations and management responses.
Ensure all significant issues are escalated appropriately.
Audit Closure & Reporting
Take ownership of completing audits within monthly, quarterly or assignment-specific deadlines.
Track pending audit points and ensure timely closure.
Review management responses and supporting documents.
Ensure audit reports are accurate, practical and professionally presented.
Maintain proper audit documentation and working papers.
Types of Audit Exposure Expected
Candidates should have practical exposure to one or more of the following:
Bank Concurrent Audit
Bank Audit
Internal Audit
Statutory Audit
Special Audit
Stock Audit
Process Audit
Operational Audit
Compliance Audit
Financial Audit
Risk-based Internal Audit
Branch/Unit Audits
Audit of financial controls and processes
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has strong practical audit experience rather than only theoretical knowledge.
Can independently manage an audit assignment from planning to closure.
Can manage and guide audit executives working in the field.
Can handle multiple assignments and competing deadlines.
Can review the work of junior team members critically.
Is comfortable interacting with senior client representatives and bank officials.
Can identify what is wrong, understand why it is wrong and clearly communicate the issue.
Has the maturity to take ownership rather than wait for instructions.
Can maintain audit quality while delivering assignments within timelines.
Qualification
CA / CA Final / CMA / equivalent professional qualification, with substantial practical audit experience.
Experience
6+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a Chartered Accountancy / professional firm.
Experience in Bank/Concurrent Audit and Internal Audit will be particularly valuable.
Key Success Measure
The successful candidate should be capable of taking a group of audit assignments, deploying and managing the audit team, monitoring fieldwork, reviewing the work, resolving client/bank queries and ensuring that every audit is completed and reported within the required deadline.
This role is NOT suitable for someone who:
Has only assisted in audits without taking ownership.
Requires continuous supervision for routine audit work.
Has experience only in preparing audit working papers but has not managed assignments.
Is uncomfortable managing field staff or interacting directly with clients/bank officials.
Has difficulty working with multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
