DoIT Hosting a Day Long Hackathon

Goan Information technology professionals and IT people collaborating with the state department of information technology are holding a hackathon to create a directory of all information technology companies within the state. This is a new approach to the system letting the public get this information through a hackathon over waiting for the Government to complete the database.

Being held on the 4th of February, from 10 am, you would have to make your way to the IT department office conference hall in Porvorim Goa. Computer programmers and project managers would have to work together to make this idea of the IT registry, a reality.

This hackathon is completely crowdsourced, creating a digital directory of all the startups in the state, the main idea being to get the directory out to the public.

The idea of this registry came about when the Government released the Goa IT Investment Policy and announced that they needed a registry to gather all the names of the companies in Goa. The information mentioned in the database is supposed to promote Goa as a hub for information technology and incubation. Since this is not being done by the Government, the domain will be created and registered as a .com domain and not a .gov domain.
