New IT Policy draft for Goa to be released at the Elets Knowledge Summit

This just in – yeah, we were caught just as unawares as you guys! A new IT policy for Goa will be released today.

The Elets Knowledge Exchange-Goa 2015 Summit is being organised by Information Technology Department, Government of Goa along with Elets Technomedia. Elets is a technology media and research company that focuses on ICT etc.

As always, this is another well-planned exercise that includes all key stakeholders.

The event aims to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange between key stakeholders (seriously) who are active in the fields of Governance and Urban Development, with a special focus on Smart Cities, Education, Health and BFSI. The event will be held at the Goa Marriott Resort on the 22nd and 23rd of May, 2015.

Post the IT Habitat project at Dona Paula which came to a standstill, this is the first big step taken up by the IT department in Goa towards formulating an IT Policy in Goa. The local IT industry was irked by the lack of communication of the event. To put it mildly.

The knowledge exchange summit is to be attended by a large number of secretaries and undersecretaries along with key officials from Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India. The event promises high-ranking meetings to strengthen cooperation of the government & an insight into broader governance & IT priorities & initiatives. At last check, hackathons and gaming parlours were not part of the agenda.

Still, let’s give it a chance with a hope that real change can come to the IT industry in Goa.
